Michelle Pfeiffer Set to Lead “Yellowstone” Sequel Series

Three-time Oscar nominee Michelle Pfeiffer is entering the Yellowstone-verse.

The celebrated actress is set to star in the Yellowstone sequel in creator Taylor Sheridan’s growing narrative empire. Pfeiffer will lead a new series set in the present day, a continuation of Sheridan’s flagship series. It’s not the only spinoff coming—there’s also a prequel series in the works set in 1944.

Deadline reports that Yellowstone co-creator and showrunner Taylor Sheridan is looking to make a major change in the hugely popular western, ending the current series with its current crop of stars, including lead Kevin Costner, and moving next season—its’ sixth—with Matthew McConaughey in talks to star. It’s not yet clear how many current cast members from the series would continue on in the one led by McConaughey.

The Kevin Costner-led neo-western Yellowstone rounded up an astonishing 12.1 million viewers on Sunday night.

This haul is the biggest overnight launch for Taylor Sheridan’s juggernaut series, and, according to Samba TV (via The Hollywood Reporter), this makes Yellowstone the top scripted series premiere of 2022.

The numbers for Yellowstone are the kind that TV creators and studio executives dream of.
