Marvel’s “X-Men” Movie Takes Big Step Forward in Landing “Hunger Games” Writer
With Deadpool & Wolverine slashing its way toward its July 26 premiere date, more big news about the future of the X-Men and Marvel Studios has arrived.
Marvel has hired The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes writer Michael Lesslie to pen a new X-Men movie for the studio. This would be the first time the mutant super-team has been assembled for an MCU film, owing to Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2019.
Disney Will Likely Find a Younger Wolverine
Hugh Jackman hung up his claws as Wolverine in Logan in arguably the greatest bow in superhero history. The now famously bloody, surprisingly touching swan song was Jackman’s last in a role that made him famous. Working with writer/director James Mangold, Jackman delivered the perfect coda to Wolverine’s hard-living, hero-whether-he-liked-it-or-not story. What Dropping X-Men From the Title Reveals About Dark Phoenix
Right up until we saw the first trailer for Dark Phoenix, the title of the film wasn’t officially announced. There was speculation as to whether it would include the prefix ‘X-Men’ as its predecessors had. Previous stories from the universe include X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Dark Phoenix will fall in that arc with several of the cast returning.
The X-Men are Returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

What this means for viewers, especially for superhero fans, is that the Marvel Cinematic Universe just experienced a Big Bang—and we mean that in a good way.
While Fox will focus its energies on sports and news, Disney’s acquisition of their film rights returns some beloved Marvel properties to the MCU.
James Franco Circling Multiple Man Role for X-Men Spin-off
Fox is currently in negotiations with the indefatigable James Franco, currently playing twin brothers on the HBO series The Deuce, to star as the X-Men hero Multiple Man in a spin-off film. Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg is also in talks to pen the screenplay, while X-Men super producer/writer/director Simon Kinberg is set to produce alongside Franco.

It’s 2014: Do You Know Where Your Mutants Are?
Just to be clear, the new X-Men movie, Days of Futures Past, is both a sequel and a prequel. It’s a sequel to the original film trilogy, since the older set of characters (the Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan crowd) have already lived through the events of X-Men: The Last Stand. It’s also a sequel to the prequel/reboot X-Men: First Class, with its new generation of James McAvoy,
