James Gunn Reveals Updates for “Superman,” “Supergirl,” and “Lanterns”
At this past weekend’s New York Comic Con, DC Studios co-chief James Gunn had a lot to say. He, his fellow Creature Commands executive producer Dean Lorey, and cast members from DC’s upcoming animated series revealed the wild first trailer, and while he was there, Gunn dished on some of the studios’ most marquee upcoming projects.

One of the biggest movies not named Superman currently brewing in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios is director Craig Gillespie’s (I, Tonya, Cruella) Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The upcoming feature stars House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock as Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El, in a film inspired by Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s well-regarded, rough-around-the-edges comic about Kara’s hard-scrabble life and her immense powers.

Milly Alcock’s Supergirl is going to take flight with the man behind I, Tonya and Cruella.
Craig Gillespie has been tapped to direct Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which will star Alcock as Kara Zor-El, a Kryptonian with immense powers and a family connection to Superman. Gillespie will direct from a script by Ana Nogueira in a story that will be at least partially based on the comic series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
