John Cena up for Role in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad

The cast for James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad is starting to shape up. When news broke that Will Smith wouldn’t be reprising his role as Deadshot, Suicide Squad fans were understandably concerned. Then we found out that Idris Elba would be taking over the role, and all seemed right in the world. What’s more, Elba’s version of Deadshot would be a more conflicted sort,

Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey Will Take Flight in 2020

We have been chirping about this awesome news since May and are ecstatic that Birds of Prey has an official release date. The all-girl DC comics movie starring Margot Robbie, reprising her role as that lovable lunatic Harley Quinn, has been gaining momentum for now, and now The Wrap has reported that Birds of Prey is on the slate for February 2020.

Suicide Squad Spinoff Gotham City Sirens Reunites Margot Robbie & Director David Ayer

Arguably the villain that popped the most in Suicide Squad was the deliriously deviant Harley Quinn, played with infectious brio by star Margot Robbie. While we heard that Warner Bros. was looking to expand their DC cinematic universe this past summer, it's still great to hear that the first Suicide Squad spinoff is going to focus on the film's most electric character and and place her in an all-female villain story.

Toronto Gets a big Boost Thanks to Suicide Squad

The supervillains of Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad may look like they’re setting the world on fire in the explosive blockbuster, but the antiheroes made a major real life impact on the City of Toronto. While in the story they're responsible for all sorts of dastardly deeds (Harley Quinn's rap sheet alone is astonishing), the film, shot primarily in Canada, contributed over $80 million to Ontario’s economy and created 4,707 jobs in the 266 days on location.

Suicide Squad is Packed with Supervillains and Easter Eggs

Half the fun of seeing a comic universe on the big screen is connecting the dots. With a heavy ensemble cast of DC supervillains derived from a multitude of comics and the animated Batman series, there are plenty of dots to connect in Suicide Squad. Catching these hints and sly reveals can take some effort, but if you’re looking for a cheat sheet, Mr. Sunday Movies has you covered.

Who Killed Robin? Suicide Squad Drops a Major Reveal

As you're no doubt well aware, the worlds of Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad are, of course, connected. BvS kicked off Warner Bros. big DC Comics film universe, breathing new life into Batman and Superman, setting the stage for Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), and introducing us (briefly) to the Flash (Ezra Miller) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa). One brief but very loaded moment in that film involved Bruce Wayne taking a solemn moment to gaze at the suit of his former sidekick and mentee,

Suicide Squad‘s World Premiere a Celebration of Diversity

We're just four days away from Suicide Squad's August 5 premiere, but for a lucky few, the world premiere happened last night at the Beacon Theater in New York. Director David Ayer and the cast were on the black, barbed-wired carpet of Warner Bros.’ world premiere, and it was a welcome sight, where the cast's diversity was a major point of celebration.

"What I love about working with this group, it's a rainbow —

Will Smith’s Deadshot Gets Extended Suicide Squad Teaser

Yesterday, we shared this extended teaser released by Warner Bros. featuring Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), the primer mover behind Suicide Squad and the woman who might just be the baddest in the whole film (yup, even more fearsome than Harley Quinn.) Today, Warner Bros. has shared another closer look, this time with Deadshot (Will Smith), one of the squad's leaders. Deadshot is a super assassin (and, in a Smith rarity,

Viola Davis Pulls the Strings in new Suicide Squad Puppet Master Promo

Viola Davis has flown fairly under the radar in all the hoopla leading up to Suicide Squad's August 8 release. No longer. The Oscar nominee is the puppet master in the latest Squad promo, proving that her Amanda Waller, despite not having a flashy name, insane clothes, tattoos or any discernible superpower is not someone you want to mess with. While the focus has understandably been on Deadshot (Will Smith),

Suicide Squad‘s Popularity is Insane, Data Suggests

From a non-scientific point of view, when your job is to write about film for a living, you can get a sense of which projects are generating a lot of excitement. This comes from your usual suspects; how many page views your post gets, how many Likes and shares on Facebook, how much action on Twitter, etc. While this is hardly a rock solid predictor of how well a film will do, it's at least good for guesswork.
