Shazam! Director Reveals How He Made His Horror Short at Home

Last week Shazam! director David. F Sandberg revealed that he’d spent part of his quarantine getting back to his roots and filming the horror short Shadowed. Working with his wife and collaborator Lotta Lotsen, Sandberg conceived of, shot, and edited this three-minute creep-fest all without leaving his home. Now, Sandberg has released a video showing exactly how he pulled this off.

You probably won’t be surprised that Shadowed was a complex undertaking.

Watch Shazam Director David F. Sandberg’s New Short Horror Film

Look, the most important thing for everyone to do right now, those of us not in essential jobs and not on the front lines of fighting the spread of COVID-19, is to practice social distancing. There was a whole flurry of Tweets going around at the beginning of the pandemic, reminding us what some other famous folks did during their quarantine. Zachary Levi Predicts Battle With Dwayne Johnson in Shazam! 3

When Shazam! debuted this past April, it was evident that Warner Bros. had something sizzling with the lovable kid-turned-superhero story. David F. Sandberg’s film was a jolt (pun intended) of humor, heart, and excitement for Warner Bros. and their DCEU. The story centered on teenage foster kid Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel), whose transformation into the titular adult superhero delighted audiences and critics alike. Billy meets a mysterious wizard (Djimon Hounsou) who tells him all he needs to do is shout one word—SHAZAM!—to turn into the titular caped superhero (Zachary Levi).

Are Things as Happy-Go-Lucky for Shazam As They Appear in New Trailer?

Being super takes practice. In the latest trailer for Shazam, Billy Batson (Asher Angel) acquires his powers overnight, but it will take a lot longer to figure out how to use them.

We haven’t seen a trailer for the kid superhero movie since San Diego Comic Con last summer. The fun new look at the teenager transformation movie shows that being endowed with extraordinary abilities by a wizard doesn’t come with a handbook.

SDCC 2018: The DCEU Lightens Up for the First Shazam! Trailer

With the brooding Man of Steel and its gritty successors, Zack Snyder indelibly left his mark on the DCEU. Movies like Batman v Superman and Justice League — but not so much Aquaman, from the looks of the trailer — are indeed darker than the average superhero flick, but they’re not without relieving moments of humor and humanity. Shazam!,
