Pet Sematary‘s Makeup Designer on Creating Death From Life

It’s always risky adapting a beloved novel for the big screen. It’s even riskier when that novel has already been adapted in a beloved film. Yet this is precisely what directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer took on with their Pet Sematary reboot. Director Mary Lambert’s iconic 1989 film version of one of Stephen King‘s most wrenchingly unsettling novels gave the world some of the most disturbing sequences of any film that decade.

Fear & Grieving With Pet Sematary Breakout Star Amy Seimetz

Pet Sematary star Amy Seimetz remembers reading Stephen King’s novel when she was just eight years old.

“I was too young but my parents were great—being a parent was different in the ‘80s,” she says. “They were happy that I was a voracious reader and they were present to answer questions. I went from [children’s authors] R. L. Stine to Christopher Pike to Stephen King. I read Cujo,

Pet Sematary‘s Final Trailer Digs Deep

Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer Pet Sematary reboot had a lot to live up too. Director Mary Lambert’s 1989 original, based off one of Stephen King‘s most wrenchingly unsettling novels, made a whole generation of moviegoers appreciate the importance of their Achilles heel. That particular scene still gives me the creeps anytime I think about it. Lambert’s Sematary had a bunch of shocking sequences that crept out of the theater and stalked the viewer for days,

Holy Moly – This Pet Sematary Trailer Goes There

Goodness. Gracious. I am a Stephen King devotee and a Pet Sematary fanatic and I was still not prepared for what dropped on us today.

King’s resurrection warning is my favorite of his extraordinary collection of works. There is a lot to grab onto in this story and it looks like the creative team behind the upcoming adaptation dove in head first. I have never been so pleased with a trailer for a project where I so greatly value the source material.

Sometimes dead is better.

Pet Sematary’s new logline is a perfect encapsulation of this Stephen King adaptation from one of his most surprising and chilling books ever. And now Paramount has released the first trailer for the film from Starry Eyes directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer and Nightflyers scribe Jeff Buhler. The film stars Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz as Louis and Rachel Creed,

The Pet Sematary Filmmakers Are Planning to Scare Us to Death

Stephen King paints his stories with demons, monsters and ghosts of all varieties, but often his most frightening characters are often the morals. Pet Semetary has some terrifying supernatural elements, but the heart of the story is rooted in the terrible consequences of our desires. It is a real sucker punch of a novel and received a delightful film adaptation in 1989. The movie is a classic and a horror movie must, but lacked some bite in the fright factor.

Jason Clarke in Talks to Lead Paramount’s Pet Sematary Reboot

Adapting Stephen King isn’t always easy, but when done right, the results can be magnificent. That was certainly the case for Andy Muschietti’s It, which was one of 2017’s most pleasant (in a terrifying way) surprises. The film was both a critical and commercial smash, no easy feat considering It was one of the legendary novelist’s more difficult tomes to crack. Yet Muschietti and his team took the book’s first half—when the Losers’

Pet Sematary Remake Brings Directing Team Onboard

This is Stephen King’s world and we are just living in it. It blew up box offices this year, the long anticipated Dark Tower was released, Mr. Mercedes was renewed for a 2nd season, and Gerald’s Game and 1922 added strong content to Netflix’s lineup, all from King’s source material. Fans can’t get enough of the King of Horror and a remake of 1989’s Pet Sematary is in the works.
