Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is Pretty Bare Without CGI

Until someone actually harvests dinosaur DNA from a mosquito, the extinct stars of Jurassic World will always be artificial. Acting into the open air is more difficult than it looks onscreen but seeing the before footage without a single velociraptor is always fascinating. What is even more astonishing about the latest installment, Fallen Kingdom, is that the entire Isla Nublar didn’t exist either. The VFX masters at Image Engine just released a reel showing off multiple stages of digital effects created for the film.

Sound Designer Gives Voice to the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Dinosaurs

The roaring reptiles of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom sound simply terrifying but in fact, each CGI dinosaur required a complex blend of custom audio elements to achieve maximum impact. To create vocalizations that would distinguish one creature from the next, Skywalker Sound artisans pulled from an arsenal of elements ranging from Styrofoam and dental drills to snarling Chihuahuas. Supervising Sound Designer Al Nelson says “All the dinosaurs wind up in the same field running away from a volcano,

Colin Trevorrow Discusses Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Big Surprises, Trilogy Plans

The dust raised in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is still settling, but the fallout of the movie’s conclusion is clear enough. Writer Colin Trevorrow recently discussed the biggest surprises of the story with io9, and he answers some important questions along the way.

One key revelation was the discovery that Benjamin Lockwood (James Cromwell) adapted the park’s technology in order to clone human beings. When his daughter passed away,

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Introduces the Most Sinister Dinosaur Yet

I am fascinated by the perpetual currency of Jurassic Park. We know the premise: man creates dinosaur, dinosaur eats man. We are five films deep into this thing, but I have not tired of it yet. One film ends and I leave satisfied thinking we have reached the peak of raptors running amok. Then comes the next and the question must be answered: how can we make this worse? Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom does just that in some surprising ways without jumping the shark.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s Production Designer Takes on the Indoraptor

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom boasts more dinosaurs than any previous film in the Jurassic franchise—combined. While prehistoric mayhem set in the present is precisely what Jurassic fans expect, it’s a major challenge for the film crew. This was especially true for production designer Andy Nicholson, who was tasked with creating a literal house of horrors for director J.A. Bayona. With the action in Fallen Kingdom moving from Isla Nublar to the mainland,

Chris Pratt Turns the Camera on the Crew in Jurassic World Journals

Filming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom takes a village. Capturing all the action requires not only talented actors, but also a massive crew. Star of the franchise, Chris Pratt, has created a series of clips called ‘Jurassic Journals’ that gives credit where credit is due. At The Credits, that’s what we’re all about so we’re loving these behind the scenes peeks at one of the biggest film sets around.

Pratt’s videos share a snapshot of many of the jobs on set including safety diver Pete Harcourt,

Blue Fiercely Fights an Indoraptor Alone in a New Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Spot

The greedy purveyors of the dinosaur de-extinction project just never know when to stop. A new 30-second spot for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom reveals more about the diabolical plot that is going to put everyone’s lives in danger. Why can’t these people ever leave evolution well enough alone?

It’s a T-Rex Versus a Lion in Ferocious new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Spot

At the 21-second mark in this new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom TV spot you’ll see the matchup you didn’t know you’ve been waiting for—a T-Rex versus a lion. While the two don’t actually tangle in the brief glimpse, the very fact they’re in the same place tells you Fallen Kingdom will be venturing off Isla Nublar and plunging the dinosaurs into populated areas, much like Steven Spielberg’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park did in 1997.

Chris Pratt Has Trouble Checking His Luggage While Leaving Jurassic World

We have all had run ins with airport staff telling us our bag is oversized, or over weight, and we cannot possibly board. It’s a frustrating refrain, especially for those traveling with pets. Service animals call for even more proof that you really do need that capuchin monkey in your lap from New York to LA. Jurassic World’s Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) goes straight to the top of the animal kingdom for his travel companion.

The Baryonyx, Indoraptor & Mosasaurus Star in new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Spot

Yesterday we shared this new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom featurette which revealed that director J.A. Bayona’s film has more dinosaurs than every other film in the franchise—combined. Now Universal has released a new TV spot that features three of the film’s marquee prehistoric stars—the genetically modified indoraptor, the baryonyx, and returning champion, the colossal, aquatic mosasaurus. While the Jurassic franchise has two undisputed kings—the T-Rex and the velociraptor—you may recall that in Jurassic World,

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Features More Dinosaurs Than Every Previous Film—Combined

While Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) wants you to adopt a dinosaur, you’re smarter than that. You know that the humans who have populated the Jurassic franchise have consistently underestimated their own intelligence and ability to “control” life. Dinosaurs cannot be adopted (even symbolically) because they are not ours to have, to own, or to manipulate. You’ve seen this proven time and time again throughout the franchise, and now, a new featurette boasts that J.A.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom‘s Claire Dearing Wants you to Adopt a Dinosaur

Are you more of a herbivore lover, or do you prefer dinosaurs with fangs and a taste for meat? Do you like a lumbering, gentle giant, or a fleet-footed killer? If you’re the former, perhaps you’ll want to adopt a cute (if a little long in the hoof) 17-year old ankylosaurus, a peaceful herbivore with an impressively spiked, shelled back. The baryonyx, on the other hand, has a serious set of fangs, and prefers eating fish.

Dr. Malcolm Welcomes Us to the Age of Jurassic World In New Teaser

Dr. Ian Malcolm is dropping the truths. The good doctor has seen a lot of bad ideas in his life, but this thing has gotten out of hand. We did not heed his warnings on Isla Nublar, and now it may be too late. The dinosaurs are no longer contained in a new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom teaser, and that can have destructive consequences for our world.

New Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom TV Spot Proves a Scared Dinosaur is Extra Dangerous

The last trailer for J.A. Bayona’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom offered a welcome jolt of horror. Bayona has crafted some truly scary films (like 2007’s The Orphanage) as well as some gorgeously rendered stories (like 2016’s A Monster Calls). With Fallen Kingdom, Bayona is working on his largest canvass yet, and from what we’ve seen he’s taken the second installment in the proposed new trilogy into darker,

Final Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer Reveals Adrenalin Shot of Horror

You know where you don’t want to find yourself? In an very tight, enclosed space with a T-Rex that isn’t quite as tranquilized as you assumed (and hoped) she was. So begins the final trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, putting Owen (Chris Pratt) in yet another impossible situation. With him is Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), the former number two at Jurassic World who, along with Owen and her two nephews, was dead center (in more ways than one) in the drama that befell the park in Jurassic World.

Michael Giacchino has all the fun these days. Lucky for us, he usually shares the best moments of his magical, musical days on Twitter. If you missed his awesome cameo in Coco, a still of his skeletal character is currently his avatar. Scroll back to mid-February and he tweeted his first day recording The Incredibles 2, the sequel to one of his earliest forays into film. And now he’s back in the recording studio for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Build Your Own Ill-Fated Jurassic Park With the Help of Jeff Goldblum

If there is anything that Dr. Ian Malcolm has taught us, it’s that life finds a way. If there’s a 2nd thing that Dr. Ian Malcolm has taught us, it’s to never harvest dinosaur DNA from a mosquito in petrified amber and recreate an extinct species for fun and enjoyment. Unless, of course, it’s a video game. Then he’ll definitely help you. In a mega 90’s mashup of nostalgia, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be releasing a new video game designed by none other than the creators of RollerCoaster Tycoon and voiced by Jeff Goldblum.
