The AHS: Apocalypse Trailer is a Greatest Hits Bonanza

The first trailer for American Horror Story: Apocalypse is completely batty. Familiar characters may have returned, but the suffocating angst of Murder House and glamorous sophistication of Coven have given way to the outrageous. Some of the most fun personas from the series return in a wild mashup mixed with a wild new storyline.

“No need for the rules anymore. The chaos has won,” the trailer declares.

When we interviewed American Horror Story: Cult‘s Emmy-nominated actress Adina Porter, she couldn’t say much about Apocalypse, save for the fact she was in the makeup chair preparing for a scene when she found out she’d been nominated for her performance in Cult. Which was to be expected; Ryan Murphy loves keeping his upcoming seasons quiet and doling out cryptic, creepy little morsels to keep fans guessing.

Cody Fern Will Play the Adult Version of a Memorable AHS: Apocalypse Character

Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are possibly the biggest risk takers in TV right now. Murphy’s Pose has been the most impactful show of the summer and Feud was just spectacular TV all around. American Horror Story has contorted to top itself each season, but I am not sure it can ever be as good as it was that first season. Even the credits sequence terrorized me.
