It’s a Whole New World in Fresh Aladdin Spot

If you can watch this new Aladdin TV spot without breaking into song, you’re made of stouter stuff than we are. This fresh look at Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake delivers a snippet of the classic song “A Whole New World,” making it very difficult (for some) to not join along. The spot also illuminates Naomi Scott’s stellar vocal chops.

We’ve also got another look at Will Smith’s Genie as he tries to refashion—quite literally—Aladdin (Mena Massoud) into a prince.

Disney has dropped the first TV spot for Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake of Aladdin, and it delivers our first peek at Will Smith’s blue-skinned, wish-fulfilling Genie. Smith stars opposite Mena Massoud as the lovable, down-on-his-luck Aladdin, with Naomi Scott as the potent Princess Jasmine. This version of Aladdin also boasts a suite of new songs by Alan Menken and La La Land songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

How Naomi Scott is Evolving the Role of Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin

One of the most magical Disney live action remakes is getting a fresh makeover. To take hit musical Aladdin from 2D to 3D required giving leading lady, Jasmine, more dimension than the classic cartoon. Actress Naomi Scott, who is taking on the role of the famous princess, dished to THR about the direction they’re taking the character.

“I love what Disney is doing at the moment with their princesses — going from animation to live-action and making those animated characters real human beings,” Scott said.

Here’s a scoop for Disney Aladdin fans. To promote the release of the Aladdin: Diamond Edition (Blue-ray/DVD/Digital), Ron Clements and John Musker, directors of The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Hercules sat down with E! News!, answering questions and debunking myths.

Musker discussed how the location of Aladdin came to be called Agrabah – It was the time of the first Gulf War and Roy Disney told composers Howard Ashman and Alan Menken they could not place the story in Baghdad.
