Motion Picture Association Statement on Confirmation of Scott Bessent as Secretary of Treasury
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate today confirmed Scott Bessent as Secretary of Treasury. The following is a statement from the Motion Picture Association:
“The Motion Picture Association congratulates Scott Bessent on earning confirmation as our next Secretary of Treasury, bringing his long track record in the financial world to the task of building a strong, thriving marketplace at home.
“A dynamic U.S. economy starts at the local level and few industries do more to boost local jobs than film, television, and streaming. Whenever a production comes to town, residents see vital returns with more than $1.3 million pumped daily into businesses and the overarching community. Nationwide, the creative sector supports more than 2.3 million jobs and 194,000 businesses across every state and our nations’ capital.
“The MPA looks forward to working with Secretary Bessent to expand opportunities for casts, crews, and creators that translate into sustained success across our economy.”
