Motion Picture Association Statement on Confirmation of Kristi Noem as DHS Secretary
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate today confirmed Kristi Noem as the next Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. The following is a statement from the Motion Picture Association:
“The Motion Picture Association applauds the Senate’s confirmation today of Kristi Noem as our next Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
“Secretary Noem takes over a department at the forefront of the fight against piracy, digital crime, and illicit online practices that steal more than $29 billion and 230,000 jobs from our creative economy each year. From the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center to Homeland Security Investigations and more, DHS plays a central role in enforcing copyright and IP protections in the United States and around the world.
“The MPA looks forward to collaborating with Secretary Noem and her team to strengthen the guardrails that protect creative works, creators, and consumers.”
