WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate today confirmed Howard Lutnick as Secretary of Commerce. The following is a statement from the Motion Picture Association:

“Howard Lutnick’s extensive portfolio in business and finance will serve him well as our next Secretary of Commerce. For a film, television, and streaming industry that employs 2.3 million Americans and supports 194,000 U.S. businesses, the Department of Commerce’s efforts to open foreign markets, reduce trade barriers, invest in domestic sectors, and conduct commercial diplomacy is imperative.

“The MPA looks forward to working with Secretary Lutnick, the International Trade Administration, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office on everything from copyright to trade to telecommunications. Collaboration will be key to ensure that our industry remains an integral part of job creation and a thriving economy in communities nationwide.”
