Film, Television, and Streaming Industry Responds to LA Wildfires

The ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area are gut-wrenching and tragic. The film, television, and streaming industry is responding to provide support and care for our LA colleagues, partners, and the general public during this difficult time.
MPA member studios have taken a leading role combating the devastation inflicted by this tragedy through direct aid, helping entertainment industry workers, and supporting additional relief efforts.
MPA Studios Respond
- Over $65 million in MPA member donations have reached organizations on the ground while hardship funds are aiding impacted industry partners and union members in recovery.
- MPA studios, directly or through their parent companies – Comcast NBCUniversal, Netflix, Paramount, Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios, Sony Corporation, The Walt Disney Company, and Warner Bros. Discovery – have donated millions of dollars to relief and rebuilding efforts.
- Vital organizations funded include the American Red Cross, California Community Fund Wildfire Recovery Fund, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, and World Central Kitchen, among others.
- In addition to financial donations, MPA members are ensuring the safety and well-being of their employees through various means of immediate assistance.
- These actions include access to bare necessities such as temporary housing; discounted and fully-covered hotel rooms, meals, and transportation; established relief centers; and more.
Broader Industry Groups Contribute to Relief and Rebuilding Efforts
- Industry groups have donated to relief and rebuilding efforts, including Motion Picture Sound Editors, National Association of Theater Owners, Pantages Theatre, and SAG-AFTRA.
- Many organizations have established hardship funds for entertainment industry workers, including CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort), Directors Guild Foundation, Entertainment Community Fund, Entertainment Industry Foundation SoCal Fire Fund, Motion Picture & Television Fund, Producers Guild of America, Will Rogers Pioneer Assistance Fund, and Writers Guild of America.
- Other industry groups have created hubs for available relief resources, including the California Film Commission, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), and UTA.
