Incitement
January 29, 2020
The Motion Picture Association and the Woodrow Wilson Center partnered to host the D.C. premiere of Incitement.
For the first time on screen and based on true events, Incitement chronicles the disturbing descent of a promising law student to a delusional ultranationalist obsessed with murdering his country’s leader, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Incitement is a gripping and unnerving look through the eyes of a murderer who silenced a powerful voice for peace.
Following the screening, the Wilson Center’s Jane Harman moderated a panel discussion with the film’s writer/director Yaron Zilberman, writer Ron Lesham, and former Asst. Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Anne Patterson.
When asked why they made Incitement, Yaron Zilberman answered: “Democracy in general is under attack in many, many countries … and we felt the urgency to have some kind of … red flag so we’ll all be aware how the mechanics of incitement work. And how to notice it from afar.”
Fmr. Asst. Sec. Anne Paterson added: “I was blown away by [Incitement]. I can’t tell you how profound it is, and how it captures the complexity of terrorism and incitement in all its manifestations.”
“[Incitement] is a movie … with many perspectives, powerful emotions, and deep complexity. And we are fortunate tonight to have … very eloquent and informed speakers to provide us with their insights.”

Zilberman: "We made this movie out of love for Israel, care for Israel, and because it's so dear to us. And we think that there is hope, of course, always." pic.twitter.com/mHtxCt7xJ3
