Linda and Monica Heads to Amazon

Flint Wainess’s script Linda and Monica, which was on the 2016 Black List, has been picked up by Amazon Studios. The film will be produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch of Escape Artists (Fences).

The film will detail the relationship between Linda Tripp and Monica Lewinsky who were colleagues at the Pentagon. The two became close friends, and, famously, Lewinsky shared information with Tripp about her affair with President Clinton. Tripp secretly recorded information from phone conversations that she and Lewinsky had over a period of months and shared the information with the government. The tapes were used in the impeachment hearings against President Clinton.

This is not the only screen time that the Lewinsky-Clinton scandal will be seeing in the near future. Fox 21 TV and FX Productions will be producing an installment of American Crime Story detailing the scandal and the impeachment hearings that followed. This show will focus on Kenneth Starr and the impeachment proceedings that happened after he received the tapes following the case of Jones v. Clinton. The show will be based off of Jeffrey Toobin’s book “A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.”
