International Wonder Woman Trailer Reveals First Glimpse of Villain Ares
In just a bit over two weeks, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will become the first female superhero to get her own big screen adventure all to herself. With the film tracking for a big opening, Warner Bros. is making sure as many people as possible are aware, and excited, for Patty Jenkins’ take on the origin story for Diana Prince. What’s pretty interesting is that even this close to the films’ June 2 release, we still haven’t seen Ares, the major villain. This changes (slightly) in this new Chinese trailer, which does give us a glimpse of Ares from the distance, and also shows a lot more footage from Wonder Woman’s involvement in Wold War I, however. The lightning-quick image of Ares hits at around the 46-second mark:
What remains the most striking element of Jenkins’ film glimpsed in all the promo materials is how cleanly she choreographs the action. Wonder Woman is seen using every tool at her disposal as she valiantly and fluidly fights, from her iconic shield and sword to whatever else may be at hand.
We know that Diana leaves her home with pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) on a quest to find Ares, who she is sure is the cause of not only World War I, but all of humanity’s wars. What’s been so fascinating is just how little of Ares we’ve seen.
Along with Gadot as Wonder Woman and Pine as Steve Trevor, the film also stars Lucy Davis as Etta Candy, Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta, Robin Wright as Antiope, Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, Elena Anaya as Dr. Poison, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick Morgan. And once again, it opens on June 2.
