Motion Picture Association Statement on Confirmation of Jamieson Greer as U.S. Trade Representative

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate today confirmed Jamieson Greer as U.S. Trade Representative. The following is a statement from the Motion Picture Association:

“The Motion Picture Association congratulates Jamieson Greer on his Senate confirmation today as United States Trade Representative.

“A seasoned veteran of trade policy and law, Ambassador Greer recognizes films and series as an essential American export, connecting global markets, and building bridges between cultures and communities everywhere. With key trade negotiations on the horizon, including the United States-Mexico-Canada agreement, Ambassador Greer’s expertise will ensure film, television, and streaming remains a reliable source of American competitiveness, exporting more than $22 billion each year and scoring a positive trade balance with nearly every market worldwide.

“We look forward to working with Ambassador Greer to spur economic growth for the American people by strengthening international copyright law, advancing robust intellectual property protections, keeping markets open, and securing a level playing field for our creative community.”
