Watch the First, Deliciously Scary Trailer for Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant Trailer
When Ridley Scott released Prometheus in 2012, there was reason to be excited. The legendary director was returning to the material than had made him a household name, building off the phenomenal Alien franchise he had begun in 1979. While the film wasn't what many had hoped, it still had plenty of intrigue and terror, and it's put Scott on the path to the next film, Alien: Covenant, which recently just dropped its' first, very promising trailer. Recalling what made Alien so fantastic, Covenant's first trailer is terrifying.
It takes only a matter of seconds for the trailer to pluge you into the body horror that made the first Alien so fantastically s cary. A man's back begins to split open as a xenomorph tears itself into the world. The action is set against a wondrously creepy cover of Nat King Cole’s song "Nature Boy," the action ripping along at bloody pace.
The synopsis we've gleaned thus far is that the film follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant as it discovers a dark world whose sole inhabitant is David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The film seems to bridge the gap between Prometheus and the first Alien, giving Scott a chance to put us right back where his career so memorably began.
The cast looks stellar, bringing back Noomie Rapace and Guy Pearce from Prometheus, and adding Katherine Waterston, James Franco, Billy Crudup, Carmen Ejogo, Danny McBride and Demián Bichir.
Alien: Covenant will be released on May 19th, 2017.
