Behold Baby Groot! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Drops new Teaser
There's one proven one (and one only) to make your Monday a little less miserable—his name is baby Groot. And you can thank the good people of Brazil for this bit of adorableness, as Marvel Studios and director James Gunn dropped the new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. teaser at the Comic Con Experience in São Paulo, Brazil. And folks, this one has a ton more footage than the first teaser, including the aforementioned Baby Groot, Star Lord (Chris Pratt) getting embarrassed to the delight of Drax (Dave Bautista), and the reveal of a new space monster that's part Jabba the Hutt, part giant squid (the colorful nimbus that flies out of its mouth is an interesting touch).
Gunn has said he wanted to keep as much a secret as possible, so the teaser is as disjointed as you'd expect. Although what is clear from earlier reports and the comics is that Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) hires the gang to do some work, and that if the interviews with Debeicki and comics are any hint, Ayesha is not exactly who she says she is. In fact, she might be a villain.
We also learned that although Vin Diesel's Groot is now just a lil' guy in this film, he's still a force to be reckon with. Watching him chase down a Ravager is both adorbale and fierce.
What you won't see in this teaser is Kurt Russell's Ego the Living Planet, possibly the weirdest new entry into any Marvel film, including the weird stuff that goes on in Doctor Strange. We'll possibly have to wait until the we see the film to bear witness what Russell's sentient planet looks like on screen.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. comes out on May 5, 2017.
