Dumbledore and Depp to Appear in Fantastic Beasts Series

As Potterheads around the world gear up for the first installment of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series, there's some exciting confirmation to share about the sequel. Albus Dumbledore will in fact appear in the second part of this series – now expected to include five films instead of three.

Set in the 1926, fans may expect to see a younger Albus (around 44-45 years old) roaming the wizarding world in the second Fantastic Beasts. Dumbledore’s magical shoes (we assume they're magical, they could also just be comfortable) are big ones to fill, and director David Yates is still searching for a suitable actor to follow in Michael Gambon and the late Richard Harris‘ footsteps. No easy feat.

Whomever young Dumbledore may be, we now know he will join a growing cast of Hollywood favorites, including Zoe Kravitz and Johnny Depp. Depp’s role remains under wraps, but the best prediction circulating amongst muggles everywhere is he'll be playing Gellert Grindelwald.

A quick recap of your Wizarding World history – Grindelwald and Dumbledore had a very close friendship through their teenage years before an epic falling out, resulting in the battle that created the Elder Wand. Their story is truly one for the wizarding ages. How centric their story will be, when we may expect to see this all play out, and whether or not Depp makes an appearance in this initial film – we will know soon enough.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters on November 18, 2016.
