Check out the new Rogue One Teaser
As you're probably aware, a brand new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer is coming tomorrow night during NBC’s coverage of the Rio Olympics. That didn't stop Walt Disney and Lucasfilm from giving us a little taste of what's to come, with a few new glimpses of some of the Rogue One characters, including Donnie Yen's Chirrut Imwe dispatching a platoon of Stormtroopers and our first good look at Alan Tudyk's droid K-2S0.
Ever since the Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 in London, we've been treated to a bevy of new information; we were introduced to the new Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich, found out about the inspiration for the new Death Troopers, and watched the brand new Rogue One sizzle reel. The trailer on Thursday will be the most comprehensive look yet at the world Gareth Edwards has created.
What you already know is that Rogue One tells the story of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the Death Star—the ones that are ultimately delivered to Princess Leia at the outset of A New Hope. Rogue One stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, the resistance's plucky leader. Her father, Galen Erso, is played by Mads Mikklesen, Diego Luna (Milk) is Captain Cassian Andor, Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Blade II) is the blind spiritual warrior Chirrut Imwe, Jiang Wen (Let the Bullets Fly, Devils on the Doorstep) is the heavily armored Baze Malbus, the aforementioned Alan Tudyk (Firefly) is the droid K-2SO, Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler, Four Lions) is the Rebel pilot Bodhi Rook, Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) plays Saw Gerrera, a character first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline, Mississippi Grind) as the film’s main antagonist, Director Orson Krennic.
Rogue One is set for release on December 16, 2016.
