Statement from Motion Picture Association Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin on the State of the Union Address
WASHINGTON – The following is a statement from Motion Picture Association Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin on President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address:
“Tonight, President Biden laid out his plans for global economic leadership. The Motion Picture Association shares that vision and represents an industry that drives economic growth and promotes free expression every day.
“The American film, television, and streaming industry supports 2.2 million jobs across all 50 states, and our workforce earns wages that are 74% higher than the national average. Our industry is also comprised of over 110,000 businesses – 89% of which are small businesses employing fewer than 10 people – and we support over 359,000 local businesses nationwide. We are an economic engine and will continue to generate job growth throughout the country.”
