The Great American Lie
February 8, 2020
On Saturday evening, the Motion Picture Association hosted a special screening of The Great American Lie, the latest documentary film from Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and First Partner of California Jennifer Siebel Newsom.
The Great American Lie examines how a U.S. value system built on the extreme masculine ideals of money, power, and control has glorified individualism, institutionalized inequality, and undermined the ability of most Americans to achieve the American Dream.
In the words of @JenSiebelNewsom, America faces "a crisis of connection, and incredible social immobility and economic inequality."
It was a pleasure to screen her film @GreatAmeriLie at our HQ this weekend—a thought-provoking work exploring the cultural causes of these issues. pic.twitter.com/NEMVIs6ORa
