Knights of Ren Appear in new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker TV Spot
A new TV spot for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker gives credence to the notion that this will be the most action-packed Star Wars film in the franchise’s 42-year history. Co-writer and director J.J. Abrams and his huge, talented cast and crew aren’t just ending the new trilogy, they’re delivering the coda to the entire Skywalker Saga. That’s 9 feature films dating back to 1977’s Star Wars: IV – A New Hope. In the new spot we get our clearest glimpse yet at the Knights of Ren, we get to see a Sith Trooper battling it out, and we’ve got a few other new moments never seen before (a Stormtrooper launching himself off the back of his ATV-like vehicle, for example), and a whole lot of action.
This brief snippet showing the Sith Trooper in action is intriguing. These mysterious bad guys have been a big part of the marketing material for the film, but we haven’t actually seen them doing anything before—until now. Who do they take their orders from, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) or Emperor Palpatine? Do they have anything to do with the Knights of Ren (unlikely)? This new spot is only half a minute long, yet it packs a very solid punch while generating a lot of questions. Which, of course, is precisely the point of its existence.
Check out the new TV spot here. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20, 2019.
