Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are Back in First Bad Boys for Life Trailer
Folks, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back for Bad Boys for Life, the third and seemingly final installment in their Miami-set action series. Mike Lowery (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) know a thing or three about causing trouble (and driving Joe Pantoliano’s Captain Howard bananas) and stopping even worse trouble (mostly the villainy kind). Sony has released the first trailer for directing duo’s Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah’s upcoming film, which sees Burnett in a new role of police inspector, while Lowery has, um, seen better days. The two must team up again to stop an Albanian mercenary who has a reason to loathe them.
Smith and Lawrence’s rapport hasn’t lost any of its’ zip over the years, and there’s delights to be had watching them back at it again, 16-years after Bad Boys 2. It would likely never get old watching them lay waste to some bad guys, in slow-motion, to a jacked-up score, all while bantering. The trailer doesn’t disappoint on any of these counts. The brief synopsis provided by Sony gives you all you need to know for the moment: “Old-school cops Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett team up to take down the vicious leader of a Miami drug cartel. The Newly created elite team AMMO of the Miami police department along with Mike and Marcus go up against the ruthless Armando Armas.”
Bad Boys For Life includes a fresh-faced cast joining our old stalwarts. Alexander Ludwig (Vikings), Vanessa Hudgens (The Princess Switch), and Charles Melton (Riverdale) are a brand-new police unit—the aforementioned AMMO—that plies their trade in a much different manner than the old school, down-and-dirty Bad Boys. They’ll all have to learn to get along if they’re going to take down the bad guys, however.
After 16 long years, Smith and Lawrence are back together again. Bad Boys For Life opens January 17, 2020.
