It: Chapter Two Early Reactions Praise Gruesomely Ambitious Sequel & Standout Bill Hader

It: Chapter Two has now screened, which means all those early reactions are flooding online. Twitter, of course, is the central hive of first impressions, and we’ve compiled a bunch for you here. One of the things we’ve seen over and over is that Bill Hader is just really good in this film. This is…not at all surprising. The reactions are mostly positive and speak to the hugely ambitious scope of Andy Muschietti’s two-part It adaptation. The consensus seems to be that Chapter Two has even more terrifying Pennywise the Clown imagery and great chemistry among the adult cast. Apparently, Chapter Two can get pretty gruesome, which is also not a surprise considering Muschietti promised an “overwhelming experience” for the audience.

On to the spoiler-free reactions!

Here’s the official synopsis:

Twenty-seven years after the Losers Club defeated Pennywise, he has returned to terrorize the town of Derry once more. Now adults, the Losers have long since gone their separate ways. However, kids are disappearing again, so Mike, the only one of the group to remain in their hometown, calls the others home. Damaged by the experiences of their past, they must each conquer their deepest fears to destroy Pennywise once and for all…putting them directly in the path of the clown that has become deadlier than ever.

It: Chapter Two floats into theaters on September 6, 2019.
