Behold Henry Cavill & More in First Images From Netflix’s The Witcher
Netflix’s The Witcher has officially arrived. The new series, adapted from Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy books, has been adapted by TV veteran Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. Now Netflix has released the first images from the show, which reveal the three main characters; Geralt (Henry Cavill), the witch Yennefer (Anya Cholatra), and Ciri (Freya Allan). We’ve also got the first teaser poster, too. The images are appropriately misty, befitting a story that involves monsters, monster-hunters, and all manner of fantastical scenarios and beings.
The Witcher will be coming to Comic-Con’s vaunted Hall H this July 19th with a panel (beginning at 2:15 p.m.). The panel will include your stars, Cavill, Chalotra, and Allan, alongside showrunner Hissrich. It’s being moderated by actress and sci-fi aficionado Yvette Nicole Brown (Community, Mom).
The basic outline of The Witcher follows Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia, something of a loner and big-game hunter, only his game aren’t animals, they’re monsters. It turns out that Geralt’s biggest struggles aren’t with monsters, but with people. Then he meets two women who change his life forever—a powerful sorceress and a young princess with something to hide.
The rest of the cast includes Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (Fortitude) as Eist, Jodhi May (Game of Thrones, Genius) as Calanthe, Adam Levy (Knightfall, Snatch) as Mousesack, Mimi Ndiweni (Black Earth Rising) as Fringilla, MyAnna Buring (Ripper Street, Kill List) as Tissaia), Therica Wilson-Read (Profile) as Sabrina, and Emma Appleton (The End of The F**king World) as Renfri.
Check out the images below. There’s still no word on when The Witcher will debut on Netflix, but we’re guessing we’ll find out at Comic-Con.
