Early Reactions for Shazam Are Electric
We might all be heading to see Captain Marvel this weekend, but she isn’t the only superhero people are talking about today. Billy Batson is merely a month away from transforming into Shazam and early reactions to the newest member of the DCEU are grade A.
Critics have been tweeting their praise for the teenage superhero as “pure of heart” and “an absolute delight.” With comic movie clashes getting bigger and sometimes scarier, Shazam is being teased as a family-friendly installment in the genre. It isn’t just for kids, though. Everyone seems to be getting a kick out of the film with heavy praise going to the cast. Those who have screened the flick are heaping praise on Zachary Levi and his young costars, Asher Angel and Jack Dylan Grazer.

#Shazam is big, goofy, lovable, and unlike anything DC has done before. Definitely in the vein of Tom Hanks’ BIG, but with superhero action & lots of Batman and Superman references. Shazam may have trouble getting the hang of leaping tall buildings and zapping electric charges, but it seems he’ll have no trouble winning our hearts. With Wonder Woman and Aquaman scooping up legions of fans, DCEU seems to be gaining strength and assembling a team of some of the most loveable characters on screen.
Shazam flies into theaters April 5.
