Screening Audiences Are Going Wild for Captain Marvel‘s Cat
When it comes to cats, we humans just cannot compete. They’re soft, they’re sassy, and they are a portal to infinite dimensions. Ok, that last part may be specific to a particular kind of cat that we are about to meet. Word on the street is that Captain Marvel is cool and all, but the breakout star of the film is her cat, Goose.
Ever since the first poster for the film dropped, Carol’s (Brie Larson) cat has been capturing our attention. As cats tend to do, Goose seems to be the only one who isn’t in awe of its master’s incredible powers. That may be because it has powers of its own.
Screenings for the movie that will introduce the anticipated savior of the Avengers have begun. Collider’s Steven Weintraub tweeted that Carol’s pet was the standout fan favorite. The feline may appear docile in the trailer where it sits pretty for Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), but looks can be deceiving. Goose is suspected to be not an Earth cat, but an alien Flerken. The Flerkens house portals to other dimensions inside their body.

If true, there is unlimited potential for fun here. In addition to being a furry friend, Goose could also be a powerful ally. And how exactly does one access an interdimensional portal inside a cat? That could get wild.
As you begin to absorb all of this information, be sure that you do not confuse Flerkens with Skrulls. These are extremely different beings, although both can have deceiving exteriors. Goose may look like a cat, but that doesn’t mean he’s an evil shapeshifter. Skrulls are the bad guys that Carol is fighting in the film. They can be very deceiving, even taking the shape of a kindly elderly woman that Captain Marvel has to knock out of orbit.
Dogs may be man’s best friend, but the best companion for a Kree is a Flerken.
Captain Marvel and Goose roll into theaters March 8.
