The Mall is Where It’s At for Stranger Things 3 Episode Title Reveal

Brick and mortar stores may be giving way more each day to online purchases, but malls were once king. They went beyond shopping opportunities and were cultural centers of suburbs. Often in malls of the 1980s, you could see movies, play arcade games, get glamour shots, and apparently battle Demogorgons. Netflix has announced the season 3 lineup of Stranger Things and it appears to be focused on that oh so important haven of 1980s teendom.

Stranger Things is all about teens in the 80s, so it seems only natural that things would gravitate toward the popular high school hangout. A way early teaser released over the past summer unveiled the Starcourt Mall was coming to Hawkins, Indiana. The new hot spot is not just a passive addition to the town. Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) will also be working there with new character Robin (Maya Hawke). The two will be hawking ice cream together, but it may be more dangerous than it sounds. Starcourt appears to be ground zero for the strange new happenings.

Building in Hawkins would not be my preferred method of investment. After the government secretly dug down to unleash the monsters of the upside down, any kind of drilling sounds less than appealing. Assuming this Starcourt Mall is a ground up venture, no wonder it will be the site of some supernatural conflict.

Plainly named Stranger Things 3, we don’t get too many clues about the upcoming action beyond it being mall-centric and another local will go missing. The third season will feature returning favorites like Eleven (Millie-Bobby Brown) and Detective Hopper (David Harbour). Harbour mentioned in a recent interview he didn’t know how much longer the show would go on but expected it to wrap up in season 4 or 5.
