Humans Have No Power Over Beasts in New Godzilla: King of the Monsters Image

A lot of monsters think they are king. King Kong and King Ghidorah just to name a few. Can they defeat the great Godzilla, though? Classic rivals Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah will have their chance to take the creature down in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film’s director is traveling back to where it all began and shared a brand-new image of Godzilla in action.

Godzilla Japan tweeted that director Michael Doherty (Krampus) will swing by Tokyo Comic Con on December 1 along with a stunning new image of the beast. Godzilla is on the move with a swarm of helicopters surrounding him. The energy is electric, literally, with waves of energy flowing along his back and cracking across the sky. It looks like an army is trying to intervene, but they are minuscule compared to the legendary lizard. Everyone better just step back. This is between Godzilla, Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan.

Dougherty also shared the image adding, “Nothing on earth is its equal, a creature without fear. It looks down on all that are haughty; it is king over all that are proud.” If you went to Sunday school classes, you may remember that’s actually a bible quote from the particularly depressing book of Job. Godzilla does have the word ‘God’ in it. We see what you did there, Dougherty. Also, the interpretation here seems clear. No matter how much humans insist they are masters of the Earth, pride will not save us when nature calls. These beasts will just have to run their course.

Godzilla Japan also shared a special illustrated poster that will only be available at Tokyo Comic Con. The awesome scene shows Godzilla tangling with Ghidorah’s three heads in a smoky battle scene. This is just an artist depiction and not an actual still from the film and it’s a little difficult to make out details in the haze, but Ghidorah’s wings are enormous. We’re rooting for you, Godzilla.

See who wins this battle when Godzilla: King of the Monsters opens on May 31.
