Very Dumb Person Shoves Arthur Curry in new Aquaman TV Spot
It’s a classic moment we’ve seen countless times before, yet one that never gets old. A bunch of “tough guys” crowd the unusual newcomer and start mocking him. We saw it when Arnold Schwarzeneggar’s T-800 arrived (again) in Los Angeles in T2: Judgement Day, naked, and walked into a biker bar. We’ve seen it when a couple of goons were sent to rouse Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) from bed and rough him up in X-Men: First Class. And here it is again in a new Aquaman TV spot; five burly dudes come into a bar and shove Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa), asking if he’s “that fish-boy from the TV.” The joke in all of these scenarios is that these bullies have finally messed with the wrong guy, only here we don’t get to see just what Arthur Curry, better known as Aquaman, does to these morons interrupting his quiet beer.
Yet there’s quite a lot we do see in the new spot, including some fresh footage of Aquaman going toe-to-toe with a masked man aboard a submarine. There’s also a few more peeks at Atlantis, the wondrous aquatic-metropolis where most of the film takes place. There’s a lot of excitement for director James Wan’s film, the first stand-alone movie for Aquaman, which DC has Wonder Woman-sized hopes for becoming their next big smash hit. For a more in-depth look at the film, check out this 5-minute long trailer that Warner Bros. released during New York Comic Con.

Here’s Aquaman‘s official synopsis:
From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.
The film also stars Amber Heard (Justice League, Magic Mike XXL) as Mera, a fierce warrior and Aquaman’s ally throughout his journey; Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (Platoon, Spider-Man 2) as Vulko, council to the Atlantean throne; Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring films, Watchmen) as Orm/Ocean Master, the present King of Atlantis; Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables films) as Nereus, King of the Atlantean tribe Xebel; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Netflix’s The Get Down) as the vengeful Black Manta; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Lion) as Arthur’s mom, Atlanna.
Aquaman breaks into theaters on December 21, 2019.
