Watch a Gag Reel & How Wakanda Forever Became Avengers: Infinity War‘s Mantra
Who better to help the Russo Brothers shape one of the most crucial scenes in Avengers: Infinity War than the actors themselves? When Thanos sends his Outrider army to Wakanda, T’Challa and the various tribes of Wakanda step up to help the Avengers beat back the invading alien horde. While we now know the outcome of the Battle of Wakanda, at the moment the entire universe hung in the balance and what was required was unity across all fronts. The present Avengers—Captain America, Black Widow, the Winter Soldier (now the White Wolf), Scarlet Witch, Vision, and Bruce Banner (as we know, Hulk was a no-show)—had no chance without Black Panther and his Wakandan warriors. Yet what would be the most vivid way to show that the Wakandans were fighting not only for the universe but for each other? Enter “Wakanda Forever,” the chills-inducing chant T’Challa leads. In fact, the Russo Brothers relied on the Black Panther actors, including Chadwick Boseman and Winston Duke, to help them come up with the chant and craft the moment. It’s only fitting that the biggest superhero film of all time would have a ton of bonus materials. While we’re loving all the details about how this somber epic was crafted (and the hijinx that ensued during filming), like you, we won’t be sated until we find out how this particular story ends. For that, we’ll have to wait until Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3, 2019.
