New Sicario: Day of the Soldado Trailer Unleashes the Fire & Fury
It seems that these days, everything that screenwriter Taylor Sheridan touches turns to gold. The Sicario scribe, Oscar nominated for his work on Hell or High Water, returns to write the sequel, and judging from the new trailer, he hasn’t held back—on anything. Sicario: Day of the Soldado looks like the original on steroids. Sony just dropped a new trailer for the movie, and it was exhilarating, breathtaking even. It looks like a two hour long thrill ride, and we couldn’t be happier.
Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro were masterful in Sicario, and based on the trailer, their performances look like they pick up right where they left off. Brolin plays morally flexible CIA operative Matt Graver, while Del Toro returns as vengeful hitman Alejandro. The two had an unholy alliance in the original, but that looks to be changing in Day of the Soldado. The action sequences shown in the trailer were incredibly thrilling. But the trailer doesn’t just show action. It has everything: from covert government meetings to snappy dialogue, beautiful cinematography, and that iconic, brooding score, there is something for everyone in Day of the Soldado. Watch the trailer below:
Here’s the official synopsis:
In Sicario: Day of the Soldado, the series begins a new chapter. In the drug war, there are no rules – and as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) calls on the mysterious Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), whose family was murdered by a cartel kingpin, to escalate the war in nefarious ways. Alejandro kidnaps the kingpin’s daughter to inflame the conflict – but when the girl is seen as collateral damage, her fate will come between the two men as they question everything they are fighting for.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado is directed by Stefano Sollima and hits theatres on June 29, 2018.
