Spider-Man Dons the Iron Suit in Avengers: Infinity War

Being Tony Stark’s protégé has its perks. Sure, it can get you into a lot of danger and mixed up with superhuman powers that are intent on destroying the universe. On the other hand, you’ll have access to really fun technology that you can add to your crime fighting gear. Case in point, Spider-Man’s Iron Spider suit.

Peter Parker will be among the dozens of Marvel characters to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, and he’s expected to be sporting a new suit. The makeover even looks a little more like Iron Man, what with the appearance of a hard exterior rather than the elastic style of the past. With the iron body, there’s tons of potential for all the technology that could go into it. Spider-Man can swing around pretty freely with his web shooters, but Tony Stark has the ability to fly in his various, increasingly sophisticated suits. As was introduced in Homecoming, Spidey’s suit already has an AI system named KAREN, similar to Stark’s JARVIS, only KAREN kept some of the kid brakes on Spidey’s suit until Tony decided he was seasoned enough to use all the bells and whistles. Could there be an upgrade to KAREN’s operating system? Might Tony give Peter access to all the incredible things his suit could already do, only now in a new, super strong iron version? We’re just spitballing here.

SlashFilm did some research and, taking a cue from a possible action figure, saw that the suit could have four utility extensions with multi-use tools. Where would Spider-Man store giant mechanical arms on his back, you ask? According to the comics, they’re made of an alloy material that can rapidly generate, so packing is easy. They don’t have to fold up and store full size at all times. Definitely could be useful in fighting off Thanos.

The Iron Spider suit seems to be a major upgrade in both style and substance. The new spider design on Parker’s chest is a cool blue and gold that will take any Halloween costume to a new level. We did get a glimpse of it at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming at the 1:15 mark of this trailer, but it’s capabilities aren’t yet clear.

See the Iron Spider suit in all it’s glory in Avengers: Infinity War April 27.
