Statement from MPAA Chairman and CEO Senator Chris Dodd on the nomination of David Redl as NTIA administrator

WASHINGTON – The following is a statement from Senator Chris Dodd, Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America, on David Redl’s nomination to serve as the next administrator of the National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA).

“The MPAA applauds the nomination of David Redl to serve as NTIA administrator. The U.S. film and television industry is at the forefront of innovation and economic growth, supporting two million American jobs and 88,000 businesses in all 50 states. By developing policies that respect copyright online and help ensure the internet remains a healthy engine for growth in communication, commerce, and creativity, the NTIA plays an important role in fostering America’s industries, and benefits all Americans.

“Mr. Redl’s command of spectrum matters, communications issues, and the inner workings of internet governance make him particularly well-suited to advise the Administration on telecommunications and information policy as the head of the NTIA. The MPAA looks forward to working with Mr. Redl and his NTIA team, should the Senate confirm him.”
