MPAA & Sony Pictures open the China International Co-Production Film Screenings with gala reception and screening of ‘Xuan Zang’
CULVER CITY, Calif. – The MPAA and Sony Pictures opened the 6th Annual China International Co-Production Film Screenings last night with a reception and screening of “Xuan Zang” at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles with special guest, LI Guoqi, Deputy Director General of the China Film Bureau of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT).
The event celebrated the growing relationship between the American and Chinese film and television industries, which continues to stimulate economic growth and increase cultural awareness. Attendees heard from Tom Rothman, Chairman of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group; MPAA Chairman and CEO Senator Chris Dodd, and the China Film Bureau’s Deputy Director General Li Guoqi.
“We are proud to host this important event celebrating the relationship between the American and Chinese film industries,” said Tom Rothman, Chairman of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group. “As we broaden our global presence in a major way, China has become a big part of our present and future — and for the industry as a whole. We look forward to continued collaboration and success.”
“Both of our nations continue to thrive thanks, in part, to our collaborative efforts and support of the film and television industry. With our co-productions, talent exchange programs, film workshops, and partnerships on new studio and cinema developments, we have helped boost our economies and bring great movies to audiences across the globe.” Senator Dodd said. “Partnering with Sony Pictures and SAPPRFT for this event is the perfect way to recognize this international success story.”
The event will be followed by a series of special screenings from November 2-3 at Regal Cinemas LA Live in downtown Los Angeles, jointly organized by the MPAA and SAPPRFT. In addition to the MPAA, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and SAPPRFT, the screenings are held with support from: UCFTI Expo, China Film Coproduction Corporation, Hollywood Reporter, Mtime, Regal LA Live, .film, China Film Group Corporation, IMAX, AMC and iQiyi.
