MPAA Statement on the Launch of the Xfinity TV Partner Program
WASHINGTON – The following is a statement from MPAA’s Joanna McIntosh, Executive Vice President, Global Policy and External Affairs, on the launch of the Xfinity TV Partner Program:
“We hope Comcast’s announcement will prompt device and application providers to develop even more ways than there already are for audiences to enjoy the programming of their choosing, while ensuring content creators are compensated and have a say in how their works are distributed. Unlike Chairman Wheeler’s proposal, this model is consistent with copyright policy and would not force creators to compete with stolen copies of their work in the pay TV environment, as they currently must do online.”
