FILM LIFE’S AMERICAN BLACK FILM FESTIVAL (ABFF) PARTNERS WITH THE MOTION PICTURE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (MPAA) TO PRESENT THE FIRST-EVER HOLLYWOOD TRAILERFEST
Hollywood’s Leading Studios head to the Festival in Miami Beach to Participate in the Inaugural Event on Thursday, June 20, 2013
Washington – Today, Film Life announced its first annual Hollywood TrailerFest will be held at the 17th Annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF) on Thursday, June 20 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel South Beach. This promotional event will offer the MPAA’s six member studios Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Universal Pictures, Walt Disney and Warner Bros. an exclusive opportunity to promote their slate of urban and general market films to the Festival’s enthusiastic national audience. The ABFF runs from June 19 – 23 in Miami Beach, Florida.
Each studio will present their latest trailers and sizzle reels, and in some cases introduce talent from their films.
The collaboration between ABFF and the MPAA began last October, when MPAA hosted a screening of the ABFF’s 2012 Winner for Best Narrative, “The Undershepherd,” at MPAA headquarters in Washington, DC. Both the ABFF and MPAA agreed to form a partnership to promote and highlight some of the best African-American filmmaking.
Senator Chris Dodd, Chairman and CEO of the MPAA, was delighted to announce this new partnership with ABFF. “When I first met Jeff Friday last September and had the opportunity to talk with him about his vision for this Festival, I knew immediately that it was important for the Motion Picture Association of America and the American Black Film Festival to build a strong relationship,” Senator Dodd said. “I am proud to
announce that this year, for the first time, the MPAA is serving as an Industry Partner for the 2013 American Black Film Festival. And, I am pleased to report that for the first time in the 17 year history of this Festival, all of our studios will be in Miami and will be participating in our first annual Hollywood TrailerFest.”
“I am extremely appreciative of Senator Dodd’s support of our mission and very excited to have this level of engagement from the major studios at this year’s Festival,” said Jeff Friday, ABFF Founder and CEO of Film Life, Inc. “Our audience is extremely passionate about cinema and I predict that TrailerFest will be one of the most talked about events of the week.”
