Your 2018 Golden Globes Winners
The 2018 Golden Globes will be remembered primarily for Oprah Winfrey’s speech, upon accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement, one of the greatest ever delivered at the show. Oprah was called on stage by host Seth Meyers, who offered this perfect observation: “Oprah Winfrey is receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award tonight. What a tremendous honor for Cecil B. DeMille.”
We’ll be looking at Oprah’s momentous speech in a separate post, for now, we want to share the night’s big winners, which included a slew of Awards for Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, your winner for Best Motion Picture Drama, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Screenplay. Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird also faired extremely well, as did HBO’s potent series Big Little Lies. The broadcast was both a celebration of women and a potent reminder, made by many women who took the stage, that much work needs to be done in order to truly achieve equity, parity and safety for women in the nidustry.
Here’s the full list of the night’s winners, a Golden Globes marked by the #MeToo moment, Oprah, and a long list of women, and some men, standing on stage and telling the world, “time’s up.”
