New Black Panther Trailer Dropping Next Week
Is there a film we’re more excited about right now than Black Panther? No, probably not. Director Ryan Coogler’s upcoming Marvel movie, the first stand-alone for one of the most beloved superheroes in the Marvel canon, has long been the film of early 2018 that we’ve been counting down the days for. Black Panther will be the first of three Marvel Studios films to be released this year, and while it doesn’t get bigger than Avengers: Infinity War, which debuts on May 4 (the second Marvel film coming out this year, followed by Ant-Man and the Wasp), Black Panther promises to be the most singular. From everything we’ve seen thus far, Black Panther looks like no other Marvel film before it, thanks to its director, one of the industry’s rising stars, it’s outrageously good cast (made up of predominately black actors), and a top flight crew that includes cinematographer Rachel Morrison (Mudbound, Fruitvale Station), production designer Hannah Beachler (Moonlight, Beyoncé’s Lemonade) and costume designer Ruth E. Carter (Selma).
The last proper Black Panther trailer dropped last October, and now you can prepare for an even closer look at the film when a new trailer during the College Football Playoff National Championship on ESPN, which, of course, is owned by Disney. The championship game is on January 8, and begins at 8pm ET. We’ll be sharing it when it drops, but keep an eye out for it that night if you happen to be watching the game.
With the film opening on February 16, this is likely the last full-length trailer we’ll be getting. ScreenRant reports (via Events Cinemas) that Black Panther clocks in at 135 minutes, right around the same run-time for Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, aka Black Panther, who we first met in Captain America: Civil War. The sensational cast includes Michael B. Jordan as the heavy, Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Martin Freeman as Evertt K. Ross, Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kabi, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Angela Bassett as T’Challa’s mother, Ramonda, Forest Whitaker as Zuri, and Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaw.

Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
