We Can’t Wait for Ghost in the Shell: Here are 5 Reasons Why
Here's something you might not know about Scarlett Johansson; she's fantastic in creepy sci-fi movies. And we're not even talking about Lucy, in which she played an unwitting drug mule turned super powered cosmic goddess. No, we're talking about Jonathan Glazer's haunting Under the Skin, where Johansson played an alien who harvests human beings for their skin. The film is sensational, and has a few scenes that are some of the most disturbing you'll see (one in particular, on a beach, is impossible to shake).
All this to say that we are pumped up about seeing Johansson in Ghost in the Shell, a remake of the classic 1996 anime film by Mamoru Oshii. Directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman), the film follows the Major (Johansson), a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.
Check out these five super short, super creepy teasers. And prepare yourself for March 31, 2017, when the film hits theaters.
