Watch James McAvoy Become Professor X

Some roles require more than just an emotional and spiritual transformation—some call for both an electric and a straight razor. Up until now, James McAvoy's turn as Professor X has never required the actor to lose his luscious locks, as his young Charles Xavier still had hair in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past (he also had something of a drug problem). For X-Men: Apocalypsehowever, the transformation into the bald (and more powerful) Professor X was called for in the script, and this meant the Scottish actor had to lose the hair.

In this video, McAvoy does the work himself (well, almost all of it, the fine touches with the straight razor need to be handled by someone else), but he and director Bryan Singer call upon a friend for more support; the original Professor X himself, Patrick Stewart.
